Stand Up for Science The Foundation Stand Up For Science organised the March For Science Netherlands on April 22 2017, at Museumplein Amsterdam. Together with hundreds of other cities worldwide, we wanted to raise awareness that science is not just an opinion, but that it is crucial to societal development and democratic process. The March For Science was received with great enthusiasm by scientists, students, concerned citizens, boards of universities, and supporting institutions, and became a great success on April 22, hosting over 3000 participants at the Museumplein in Amsterdam. We created awareness amongst individuals and institutes that the time is now to stand up for science. However, even though our message was met with great enthusiasm, a one day march is not enough to fix the information chaos and distrust in science. Therefore we continue our movement, and will set the following goals for the near future:

Op de vijfde top van het Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on Plastic Pollution in Busan, Zuid-Korea, is geen akkoord uit de bus gekomen. Het comité van het VN-Milieuprogramma moet de plasticproductie aan banden te leggen, maar de weerstand van de olieproducerende landen bleek te groot.

In het Zuid-Koreaanse Busan leggen delegaties uit 175 landen de laatste hand aan een nieuw verdrag tegen plasticvervuiling, ondanks tegenstand van olieproducerende landen.

Réseau pour une action climatique impactante

VN-klimaatbaas Simon Stiell roept wereldleiders op om ‘het script om te gooien’ als het gaat om klimaatmaatregelen in Afrika. Hij wil de ‘epidemie van onderinvestering’ ombuigen naar een ‘goudmijn voor de Afrikanen en hun economie’.

Frédéric Chomé est un physicien belge, fondateur et manager général de Factor-X – the Climate Consulting Group, un bureau de conseil en stratégie climatique et développement durable à destination des entreprises et des pouvoirs publics à travers l’Europe. Aider les citoyens, les communautés et les entreprises du monde à réduire leurs émissions de GES en agissant sur la consommation d'énergie, les transports, la gestion des déchets et les comportements d'approvisionnement. Frédéric nous parle de la place de l'argent dans les banques, l'impact colossal du carbone derrière et comment y remédier.
