It explores the conditions under which the world could move toward this horizon and traces an economically and ecologically consistent transition path from 2026 to 2100.
We work to ensure that carbon pricing and other climate policies cut pollution and drive a just transition towards zero-carbon societies.

The Global Justice Project is a collective research initiative developed by the World Inequality Lab. Combining comparative historical data series from the World Inequality Database with global input-output tables, environmental accounts, labour force surveys and other sources, the project explores what a just distribution of socio-economic and environmental resources could look like at the global level from 2025 to 2100 – both between and within countries – in a way that is compatible with planetary boundaries. The project partly builds on the analysis and proposals set out in Thomas Piketty’s Brief History of Equality, extending them into a broader and more comprehensive global framework. The Global Justice Project is now available to explore on a dedicated website, that includes an interactive tool to explore the distributional pathways and climate scenarios behind the report.

L’actuel projet de loi du ministre Van Quickenborne visant à réformer le droit pénal est très inquiétant. En effet, il introduit une nouvelle sanction pénale d’interdiction de manifester. L’objectif de cette sanction serait de s’attaquer à ce que l’on appelle les « casseurs », c’est-à-dire les personnes qui ne participent pas réellement à une manifestation, mais qui utilisent une manifestation – appelée « rassemblement revendicatif » dans le projet de loi – pour causer délibérément des destructions. En réalité, il ne s’agit pas d’une mesure « anti-casseurs », comme le prétend le ministre. Le champ d’application de cette loi serait tellement étendu qu’il permettrait de viser et réprimer des manifestantes et manifestants qui ne commettent aucune violence. Sans avoir pour autant le moindre effet sur la présence ou les actions d’éventuels « casseurs ».

After two years and 14 negotiation rounds to modernise the Energy Charter Treaty (ECT), the signatory states meet on 24 June 2022 to try to find a compromise.Three days before the conference, there are still no prospects of a genuinely ambitious reform, let alone one in line with the Paris Agreement. The only proposal on the table on which they may agree on June 24th will maintain the ECT protection of existing foreign investment in EU countries in fossil fuel for at least another decade and in gas power plants until 2040. In case an agreement in principle is reached by June 24th, the ECT might well be extended to several countries that host large fossil fuel investments.
